Did you know...
...that the cheapest method of managing e.Scrap is not the best, most responsible way to manage e.Scrap?
Would you like to be managing e.Scrap responsibly, but don’t know where to start? It is first important to understand how the law applies to you (see The Law) and make certain that your organization is meeting all legal requirements for e.Scrap management. However, “best practices” provide you with a way to go beyond simply following the letter of the law, and move towards the best way to manage electronics and protect public health and the environment.
Best practices entail looking at reuse options first, to get the most life out of an asset. Best practices also include: hiring a legitimate recycler; making certain that data contained on e.Scrap is managed in a manner that doesn’t break laws or risk identity theft (see The Risks); and, ensuring that equipment does not get exported to illegitimate markets (see Export Concerns).
The following “best practices” guidance documents have been developed to assist in creation of effective, efficient and environmentally-sound programs for e.Scrap collection, reuse and recycling. These documents showcase the most responsible e.Scrap reuse and recycling practices, and they encourage those managing e.Scrap to work towards meeting the highest standards in the future.
